Over the past few weeks, I’ve had lively discussions on Taylor Swift.

It gets heated.

The slightest criticism of billionaire Swift is usually met with a swift rebuke. I’m criticized for being one of those old guys who can’t accept new, fresh talent and who’s still living in a world of stodgy classic rock.

And that was my sister who said that!

And she’s right. I do like classic rock. In particular, ACDC and Motörhead are two of my all-time favourites. But also Howlin Wolf, BB King, Lou Reed, Led Zeppelin, The Who, David Bowie, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Pet Shop Boys, and even Elton John. Classic Music, you may want to call it.

So when people say I’m just another old fart harking back to a bygone age where it was all men with guitars with bad drug problems, they might have a point.

But it’s not completely true. I think Taylor Swift is a wonderful artist. I’ve never been to a live show, but I’ve seen her on YouTube (does that count!). She’s an incredible woman with a super talent who puts other artists to shame with her vibrancy, verve, energy, and length of her shows.
