Imagine Lawrence of Arabia or Doctor Zhivago without Maurice Jarre’s sweeping scores, The Jazz Singer without Al Jolson singing “Blue Skies” or High Society without Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong singing “Now You Has Jazz”, they might be good films, but would they be great?

Great Films are a result of multiple elements, their soundtracks and their scores are often major ingredients in critical and box office success!

Musicals, (as opposed to musical films), like “West Side Story”, “The Sound of Music”, “Evita” and “Moulin Rouge”, are wholly separate entities and will be covered in a different article.

Writing about “The Best” of anything is largely subjective, so I’ll stick to films that I found great. If you do too then my objective is achieved.

these 10 choices are worth revisiting or catching if they have never crossed your path.
