Any Khruangbin fans in the house? 👋

Their music has been my go-to soundtrack for years, subtle yet flavorful. They’re the perfect backdrop for any time of day, soaked in soulful psychedelic-rock pop grooves and lightly sprinkled with lyrics that suit most mood swings.

Their songs are visuals — you can see them without using your eyes.

Sultry. Frothy. BASS-Y.

When we heard they’d be at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville (at the last minute, of course), we bought tickets immediately. Luckily, they still had some floor tickets available.

Buying the tickets is the hardest part after parking. Which wasn’t the nightmare we thought it would be this time around.

And just in time to hear the opening act, which is rare for us.

John Carroll Kirby and his band opened the night with a fresh take on funky jazz that gave me that cartoon eye bulge. Until that moment, I’d never heard someone actually rock the flute. Logan Hone, you are my hero.

Khruangbin took over, and the stage transformed into a mesmerizing light show, bathing the Houston trio in what seemed to be the entire color wheel.

Three arched windows in the background projected shifting clouds and stars — reflecting the cover art from their latest album, A La Sala. They even included some juicy thunderstorm sounds to set the mood.

Both bands fused at the show's end with vibrant yet swoon-worthy melodies. Like rocking the Fourth of July at the lake house.

If Khruangbin is the vibe you’ve been looking for, I’d open another Chrome or Brave tab to see if they’re playing somewhere near you this summer.

They put on a tremendous show. Every song rolls right into the next, maximizing their time on stage.

P.S. Shoutout to the lighting designers who make these shows even more magical. ✨

Any shows you’re going to this summer you’re excited about?
