For everyone, like me, who feels like they missed boarding the mothership that was Pink Floyd, we have another chance with David Gilmour’s Luck and Strange. David says it’s his best album since Dark Side of The Moon, which he and his Pink Floyd bandmates made in 1973. David’s voice has aged like fine wine. The raspy, dreamy sound of Dark and Velvet Nights feels like flying to the moon on silk sheets. David said the lyrics are from a poem Polly wrote to him on their anniversary. That makes the song even more special.
My 23-year-old grandson walked into the room as I was listening to Scattered. He said it has a cool vibe that reminds him of the indie music he listens to. Kory Grow of Rolling Stone Magazine says Scattered is David Gilmour’s best solo since Comfortably Numb. I agree. Gilmour’s guitar playing is otherworldly. His black cat strat provides the perfect meditation and escape from too much reality.
