What is it like to imminently release your first album?

Bel Holiday has the answer.

The theater actress-turned-musician has been hustling hard during quarantine: she’s releasing her first EP this summer and has already made a ton more tracks.

What impressed me most about Bel Holiday was that, when she makes music, she genuinely thinks like an engineer. Will this song make people dance or chill out? How do I want the listener to feel when they’re engaging with my tracks?

These are the kinds of things that Bel bears in mind.

And that engineering has turned into some folky and jazzy and pop-y genre bending.

Not only is this impressive for someone who has yet to release their music, but it taught me a lesson that is applicable to us all: listen and learn. Just because someone has the experience, doesn’t mean they have the expertise. The same goes for the other way around.

But I’ll let Bel take us on our learning journey from here.

Noah: Where did you grow up? And what led you to pursue passions and music?
