This is an attempt to make a list of The 30 Greatest Rock Guitarists of All-Time, which is undoubtedly impossible. (It was originally supposed to be a Top 25 list, but even after adding five more names, it was still very hard to complete.)
A previous list about instrumental rock guitar solos was nice but a little bit strict on the criteria, so there are only two rules for this list. The genre must be rock, and there can only be 30 names on the list. I consulted a panel of knowledgeable rock fans, and we considered era, songwriting, technical skill, and legacy.
This is the list. Wanna add somebody? You gotta bump somebody.
