This Week’s Heavy Rotation #2
My Top 5 of the past 7 days

Below are some of the songs I’ve had on repeat this week. Following the lead of many other great writers on here, I’m hoping to make this a recurring feature.
Either way, I hope you find something new and/or an old favorite that takes you back to a sunny day. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
Sleaford Mods-Nudge It
Sleaford Mods are a band out of Nottingham England. It’s 2021, but I always feel like they’re the embodiment of Thatcher’s England of the early ‘80s. Gritty, stripped down, bleak. They can be an acquired taste, but I think they’re fantastic.
Wire- Eardrum Buzz
Off the 1989 “IBTABA” album, this single is their most commercially successful so far, reaching #2 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. Can you name all the cameos in this video?
I Only Said- My Bloody Valentine
This is off of “Loveless,” the band’s seminal 1991 release. Easily one of the best shoegaze albums going. It rearranged my mind when I first heard it. It kinda still does, to be honest. All these years later, it’s sounds just as good. This is one of my favorite tracks off of it.
If So-Atlas Genius
Yesterday, I got caught singing this at a traffic light. It’s not my first offense.
In my defense, it’s amazingly infectious.
I’m Gonna Make You Love Me- The Temptations and The Supremes
Perfect. What can I say?
Bonus Track: Stars and Stripes Forever- John Phillip Sousa
I’m a sucker for a Sousa march, and I’m writing this while watching the Presidential Inauguration. If we were to ever change the national anthem, this would get my vote. I play it every July 4th.
