It’s 1998, and most if not all adults tire of the grunge scene; they crave something jubilant and with a gleam of hope. Nothing loud and bleak. A music producer and ex-solo composer wants to break loose the days of sorrow and make music to lift. With the solo artist getting another chance to appease the masses, they formed a band, New Radicals. They made one album selling millions and contained one successful song which swept the charts across North America and Europe. After the initial success, the band called it quits and never formed again. So, where did they go?

Music is in my soul

To understand the story of the New Radicals, we to delve into the prior history of the lead singer, Gregg Alexander. Born Gregory Aiuto in 1970 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, to a Jehovah’s Witness family. Gregg Alexander began his obsession with music when he and his mom listened to the AM radio, driving through the Detroit metropolitan. He enjoyed listening to Soul and Rock-and-roll. He enjoys tunes such as Paul McCartney’s “Band on the Run,” the Everly Brother’s “Cathy’s Clown.”
