Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell is both beautifully written and terrifyingly bizarre.

Laurel Mack must wade her way through life when each chapter poses a new twist as the tragic story of her daughter, Ellie Mack, unfolds. There is no question that the pieces don’t add up when Ellie disappears, but no one could have guessed the full extent of the mystery.

Jewell grips readers and effortlessly convinces them to form connections with the characters. This book, although slow at times, will keep readers turning the page as their assumptions are proved wrong and they are lead down an entirely different path with each new development.
