Day 12: Intro to CSS

Today was our first day to delve into the wonderful world of CSS in the classroom, and let me tell you, it was wild. I know CSS has a mixed reputation among developers, and I think that mix is made up of about 80% disdain, but I have to admit, I kind of like it.
When it works.
We had a great lecture today going over the basics of CSS. We covered all the jargon, working through what each piece is/means. Then we were sent off to pair program through an assignment for pretty much the rest of the afternoon.
The assignment we did provided just the right mix of feeling accomplished when we got something done and wanting to pull my beard hair out when I couldn’t get the CSS to do what I want.
CSS is interesting because it seems simple and straightforward, but one can become as meticulous, detailed, and creative as one wants when choosing how to style a page/app.

I’m excited to keep learning about CSS and to finally put all three “languages” together and beautify some pages soon! DOM manipulation is our next big topic to tackle, and I can’t wait to see how that works/ties together with everything else we’ve learned.
