Day 15: Pixel Art Maker and Hurricane Harvey

I have to be honest, I was a little nervous coming into class this morning. I had tried for a couple of hours to get my pixel art maker going last night, and I made almost no progress in over 2 hours. It can be really brutal to get stuck on assignments or concepts, but as brutal as it can be, it’s equally exciting when I finally have a breakthrough!
I was definitely pre-breakthrough when I walked into class this morning. I had pretty much nothing put together for the pixel art maker, and I knew that it was technically due at the end of the day. I thought I was sunk and there would be no way to get it done. Luckily, we had several hours during classtime to work on our assignments before the end of the day, and my classmates and instructors were again very helpful.
Even though I’m “finished”, I’m definitely not satisfied with it and know it can improve a lot, and more importantly my skills on DOM manipulation can certainly improve. I want to know more intimately the ins and outs of event handlers and listeners, creating/appending elements, and a bunch of other concepts.
I feel like I know enough now to get by, but I want to get closer to mastery! I know that just working on a bunch of different things/adding a lot into the few things I’ve worked on is a good way to get there, so that’s what I’ll do.
Today ended early because HARVEY. We got a ton of rain around 3pm and pretty much everyone at Galvanize Austin left for the day because we thought it would only get worse. Go away Harvey! I look forward to praying throughout the weekend for the areas of the coast that are projected to get hit hard by Harvey. God is in control, even in times when we don’t understand what is happening.
Looking forward to week 4!
