Digestion Is Very Important:

The gut is the part of the digestive system that holds physical and chemical processes, which are essential for life. It also contains the two major organs of this system — the stomach and intestines.

Many people believe that the gut has a mind of its own, or that it can effectively distinguish between what’s good to eat and what’s not.

How Stress Affects The Digestive System:

Stress is an integral part of life; there is no way to avoid it. However, you can manage it for better gut health and the immune system.

The gut is one of the most important parts of our body because it helps to digest food, regulate hormones. It helps us to feel full which keeps us from overeating and produces vitamins.

If your gut is not healthy, you are likely not healthy either.

Stress can lead to an increase in cortisol levels which can cause inflammation in the digestive tract and decrease good bacteria levels.

It also affects our mood, metabolism, and immune system.

The Gut is Mainly Controlled by Two Hormones:

Ghrelin and Leptin:

Ghrelin is released before you start eating

— which makes you feel hungry.

Leptin is released after you’ve consumed food

— which makes you feel full.

Why is it Important to Control Stress Levels?

The immune system is an important part of the body that deals with disease and keeps your body healthy. It is a very delicate system that if not kept in control can lead to serious consequences.

Stress can have negative effects on your health.

How Stress Negatively Impacts Digestion:

It’s getting harder than ever to avoid stress.

Stress can be detrimental to our health.

The body produces stress hormones in response to stress. This changes the way the body digests food and uses the nutrients it consumes for fuel.

The body also produces less stomach acid due to increased levels of cortisol. This impacts digestion and digestion efficiency.

Stress can lead to digestive issues like heartburn or indigestion. This increases inflammation. and causes leaky gut syndrome. This causes increased intestinal permeability which is thought to possibly cause allergies.

Gut Related Symptoms from Chronic Stress:

How to be Healthy:

Chronic stress can lead to a multitude of gut-related symptoms such as headaches, stomach aches, and even diarrhea.
