Metabolism is an important factor in weight loss. It is a chemical process that occurs within the body to transform food into energy. But the question occurs, how does our metabolic rate influence our weight? Many people must have noticed at some point in their lives that there are folks who eat a lot but still have perfect bodies.

HOW??????

The mysterious concept behind why some individuals barely eat anything and have a high body fat percentage and why some people can eat intuitively whatever they want and still be fit and healthy is none other than “METABOLISM.”

Surprisingly, I've been on both sides of the coin, and here's what I learned from years of cracking down the code of my metabolism. So, exactly what is metabolism? Don’t worry; it’s really simple, as I described in my first sentence. The thing is, you should focus on boosting your metabolism because, in a nutshell, high metabolism = less weight. So now, let’s focus on increasing the metabolism.

Boost Your Metabolism

The metabolic rate contributes to 60 to 75 percent of total daily energy burn, so ideally, if you want to raise your metabolism, this will be a big area to target. The good news is that your resting metabolic rate is dependent on how active you are, which is great news for those of you who despise moving your body.

I understand you and can relate because I was in the same boat, but I have some bad news for you: your metabolism will not improve if you choose not to be active. I once thought I could just take the easy way out and not exercise and eat the bare minimum calories, which was literally starvation.

Sure, I lost weight, but weight is not indicative of anything. I most likely lost a lot of muscle, which slowed down my metabolism even more. Lean muscle mass actually determines 74 to 80 percent of your resting metabolic rate. Those who are very active and have a high level of lean muscle mass will naturally metabolize faster.

I’ll say it again: never, ever starve yourself for any reason other than survival unless someone is holding a gun to your head. I also believe that life is too short to forego your favorite foods, whatever they may be. After all, your diet is like an entire picture.

If you’ve ever had an ice cream cone or a piece of cake, it doesn’t mean you don’t care about your health, and it doesn’t mean your metabolism will lose its efficiency. Everyone is different, and you need to find your own balance, but on the topic of metabolism, keep in mind that the thermic effect of food still accounts for roughly 10% of your metabolism. Your BMR will rise after you eat because there is a certain amount of energy required to digest the food, and what you eat will impact that. So from a macronutrient perspective that’s where carbohydrates will raise your BMR by five to ten percent, and proteins will raise your BMR by twenty to thirty percent, which is why protein is super important to enhancing your metabolism because it raises the basal metabolic rate or your BMR.

That is all I wanted to share today about boosting metabolism. Really guys, take the time and reflect on why you want to enhance your metabolism and remind yourself that with all changes, it will take time for results to show, but your body is yours to take care of for a lifetime.

This Is the End.
