The Rounds goes beyond simple photo-sharing for Canada’s physicians

October 21st, 2015 — Believing Canada’s top medical minds need access to more than just photos, The Rounds is launching two new features: video uploads and the ability to poll colleagues.

The Rounds is a closed digital network, available only to verified and licensed Canadian physicians, offering a social experience equivalent to the best consumer products, while remaining entirely secure. Thousands of Canada’s physicians use The Rounds to collaborate with colleagues; often right at the point of care.

  • More than Just Pictures: Physicians on The Rounds said they wanted more than just basic photos and commenting. They now have the ability to upload videos, PDFs, case files, form specialty groups, join their professional association groups and more.
  • Generate Data and Professional Insight: Physicians said it needed to be easier to ‘take the pulse’ of their colleagues on certain cases and issues. Members on The Rounds can now add their own polls and ask colleagues to weigh in with a few clicks of a mouse.
  • Verified Physician-Only: Members on The Rounds don’t waste time wading through non-medical, non-clinical or unverified opinions.
  • Closed Conversations: Physician members can find colleagues and quickly and efficiently reach out across a secure network without worry that other physicians or the general public can see what they’re saying, thus adding another layer of security and confidentiality.

The Rounds is HIPAA and PIPEDA compliant, but the magic of the built-in-Canada platform is not only the level of digital encryption, nor the verification of members’ identities, but in how physicians are embracing the technology to deliver better care.

“What is happening at The Rounds is something that’s never happened in Canadian healthcare communications before,” says The Rounds CEO Blair Ryan. “We spent years talking to physicians about their wants and needs and the result is this best-in-class digital product that allows busy healthcare professionals to access the information and experts they need on their own terms and time. Now with videos and polling — it’s just that much better.”
