Barcelona Diary #27 — Full Distance

It’s done. Full marathon distance training it’s done.

Probably not much to add on this rather than the fact that I reached the peak of my training, and that everything from here is about to keep the legs moving and waiting for the big day, injury-free, of course.

Why did I decide to do the full distance? Two reasons. First, it was on the plan, simple. The second, it gives me peace of mind, the “you know you can do it” or “I’ve done it before” type of thing.

Was it necessary? Probably not, especially if we follow most of the experts and plans out there that barely make it near to 20–22 mile runs, but it’s done, and no matter how much I desired for it to be finished during the last two kilometres, I didn’t stop until my watch showed the number I was looking for. Now if you excuse me, I’m ready for the taper start, while I wait for race day and prepare for the post-race celebration. Yes, lots of tapas, wine and fun included.

Not long to go now!
