Everybody goes through failures. Whether that be in business, health, or our goals. But, why do we fear failure? Why do we mentally doubt ourselves in the presence of failure?

In a recent podcast on The Ranveer Show, Ranveer Allahbadia interviewed Ayushmann Khurrana regarding his confidence and spirituality. This episode explained how Ayushmaan has pushed through his failures in the Indian film industry as an actor, and his mindset towards his failures.

People look negatively towards failure but should they? This article talks about;

How important is failure?

Naturally, failure is seen to be negative. It has traditionally been frowned or looked down upon. But, how important are failures on the journey to success?

Success comes but it is the failures that will teach us the skills to reach our goals.

Failure is the best teacher! Success is a lousy teacher!

We strive to be successful; be the best. However, failure is our best teacher and I’ll tell you why.

Failures come in all aspects of life. In those failures, there’s some learning that we can take from it. There is always a lesson to be learned and something that we can improve upon. This is allowing us the opportunity to reflect on what has gone, and how we can do it better.

It is human nature, that in our successes, the failures are swept under the carpet, and success is celebrated. Not often enough do we look back on our successes and say, ‘Could we have done anything better?’

That is why failure is so important. It forces us to look back on our mistakes. It enables us to see things in a different light and guide us in creating a new path to reach our ambitions.

Why should you make failure your friend?

I think it’s quite a simple philosophy. What are friends?

Friends are those that celebrate our successes but support us through our failures. They help to keep us grounded at our best and lift us when we are down.

That’s exactly what failure does.

Failure keeps us grounded in our highs. It hits us like a ton of bricks and knocks us off that top step to keep us level headed. Even if we are doing everything right, the presence of failure will make us think twice about what we’re trying to achieve and may help us foresee any flaws.

Look at most of the successful entrepreneurs in the world. Mark Zuckerberg for example, created this amazing platform, ‘Facebook’.

Recently, Zuckerberg and Facebook came under the radar for the privacy failures of all its users.

Zuckerberg accepted the mistakes that were made and implemented a review on how the company can work to avoid this happening in the future.

This failure allowed the security of the platform to be scrutinised and therefore made safer.

It is not just relevant in business. Failure does not discriminate. It comes to everyone.

Tiger Woods, Anthony Joshua, Richard Branson have all had their share of failure to name a few.

Ayushmaan talks about this in his interview. He uses his failure as motivation to get up in the morning. As we first start to see success, it can easily get to our heads. We can feel like we are invincible.

The earlier in our lives we can see failure, the better it is for us. It allows us to learn from our shortcomings earlier and aid us to avoid them in the future. If we were to see failures later on in life, it’s very difficult to get over.

The struggles are the worst & best moments in our lives and create great learning curves.

Success is great. Success gives you confidence. However, failure will be our friend and pull up our shortcomings to help us become better human being’s and help us on our journey to success.
