It’s uncommon for most survivors of narcissistic programming to turn inward when they beginning moving through recovery. After all, when faulty programming and manipulation happens to us early in life, we are going to turn to the people who were once responsible for our well-being. But that’s the thing. No one is responsible for our overall health but us. We have the power now. Putting that power elsewhere is futile and will ultimately prolong the journey to full recovery.

There is one important reason to turn inward when entering into your second phase of recovery from narcissistic programming. It may sound crazy, it may even sound a little like victim shaming. But it is totally feasible. This reason is so you can give yourself permission to let go of fantasy. Not fantasy in and of itself. The fantasy of being perfect, the fantasy your family/significant other constructed for external approval, the fantasy of having everything you’ve ever wanted.

There, we got through that. Again, it may sound harsh. But here’s the truth — the reason you have been stuck in toxic cycles, self-sabotaging, and married to victimhood is because of a fantasy that marred your sense of reality. That’s what narcissistic programming does at the core. It distorts your reality. This is how the same character has entered your life over and over again. Same character, different body.

So, let’s go inward. Using an esoteric and metaphysical approach, we can turn to the cycles of the moon to illuminate your path after narcissistic programming. Not only are there eight phases of each moon cycle, but we also have a particular moon placement in our astrological birth chart (natal chart). Using the time, location, and date of your birth you determine the placement of the moon at the very moment you were born. Once you pull your natal chart, you will see the zodiac sign and house placement of your moon.

This particular aspect of our natal chart is perfect for turning inward because it provides keys for releasing stagnant energy and setting intentions for freedom from the past. It also will help us identify patterns of how we function in relationships. Both the upside of us and the downside of us. It reveals shadows.

So identifying your moon and then following the moon cycles provides you with a self-focused way of letting go of fantasy. And it allows you to think developmentally. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t need to know all of the answers. You simply follow the flow and energies of luna.
