Encounter (2021) on Prime Video — Misleading Title and Dull Road Trip
Why do movie makers do this? Mislead the potential audience with false marketing and advertising. If you claim that your movie is a science fiction movie about mysterious aliens, then, you should have actual aliens in the movie.
Just the other day, having watched 3 hours of snoozefest that was Apple TV+’s Invasion, I am still itching for a proper alien invasion movie.
Invasion on Apple TV+ — Bore…sion? Dull…asion? SleepIndu…sion
Unlike Netflix, Apple TV+ does this weird, new episode every week thing. It makes sense. Unlike Netflix, Apple TV+ only…
The movie starts off strong. We see a super cool shot of a falling meteor and a CGI sequence of an alien host taking over a human host. I got pumped right off the bat. Then, we see a hardcore solider on some sort of a undercover mission. He seems to be a loving father who wants to save his estranged family.
He goes after his family, finds that the wife is already infected. So, he decides to rescue his kids from dangerous aliens.
Then…yeah, the whole thing is a lie. The movie is about a soldier, who is on the run from the law. That’s what it is. He convinced himself that there is an alien invasion to justify all the dangerous things he does, including, putting his two kids in constant life threatening situations and hurting people.
I am sure this would have been a good movie, if not for the misleading title, and the opening scene. Folks like me, who are looking for an actual alien invasion movie, should look elsewhere.
