2021 — Ah! What to say about this guy. He has been just as dangerous as 2020. Who can forget 2020. That guy was at least delivering some hope, but that was mostly due to uncertainty about the real dangers involved.

I still remember, foolishly thinking, that the troubles of 2020 were going to be short lived. As 2020 rolled by, I realized, the dangers are only now getting started. 2021, lived up to that promise. 2021 has been deadly in so many ways — human life, financial impact and what not.

[You can read about my new year 2022, post here.]

I dont expect things to get much better in 2022 or even 2023. We will still be living in the pandemic a few years from now.

All of it, is my own experience, of course.

This year, perhaps, because of the adversity that it brought with it, I made some truly tough decisions. Personally and Financially. Take decisions that once seemed unthinkable. I went into depression, became suicidal, took help, started altering my character on a fundamental level.

I am trying to become more humble. Less aggressive. I plan to keep doing this in 2022. As I transition from being a married guy to a single guy, I am once again making alterations to my lifestyle. Accepting the humiliation of having to tell people that my wife and kids no longer live with me.

I am looking at the bright side, and hopefully these bright spots will continue. I have managed to reduce my debt considerably this year. There is still a lot of debt ground to cover, but it is less than before. Work has been coming in regularly — touch wood, god’s blessings, and my online work reputation is once again increasing.

I took a reputation hit last year due to mistakes, that I made. I have been careful this year. As a consequence, I stopped working as a developer for hire, something I have been doing for 8 years. Now, I am limiting myself to coding tutor, where I have been doing quiet well. tutoring has been my original goal when I started freelancing anyway.

It’s good to return to my roots. I hope it’s good.

I learnt JS finally. Made serious inroads into creative coding and generative art. I rebuilt my friendship with my friend in Finland. I have started putting the foundation for what new things I will be learning for my career in 2022.

Final Note

As the year comes to a close, I humbly acknowledge the mistakes I have made in the past. I have been improving myself as a person, and hopefully things will be better next year.

Or COVID will finally kill me. Who knows :P

I work as a full time freelance coding tutor. Hire me at UpWork or Fiverr or Stack Overflow. My personal website is here. Find more of my art at Behance and Unsplash. Also, I have a Podcast.
