Just Like That, I Have 100 Followers on Medium — Obtained Organically To Boot

100 at last. Nice.

Every platform where I have some content, there is a basic benchmark that seems to imply I have hit the minimum mark to be taken seriously.

For instance, I was overjoyed when I finally hit the 1st, most basic milestone on Unsplash, with 100K views.

I was equally overjoyed when I crossed 2K points on Stack Overflow.

I am nearing 40, so, these things, virtual accomplishments dont mean much. I mean, my life is almost finished in terms of youth and all that. I have already achieved most of the things I set out to achieve when I was young.

I have very few things left on my bucket list, so to speak. In many ways, I am simply padding the stats as far as life achievements are concerned.

My glass of milk, is already full. I thank god for this good fortune.

So, yes, a little happy that I have crossed the basic threshold of 100 followers on my medium account. I have received these followers organically too. Every now and then, i see people posting posts with titles like, ‘Hey guys, follow me, I will follow you’ OR ‘Need to reach 100 followers. Help’.

I dont condone or codemn those approaches. Live and Let Live. To Each His Own, has always been my motto.

Some folks, what they do, is apply for medium partner status. I think, that is why the 100 follower count, matters. We dont have that in India. I don’t want to put my writings behind a paywall. So, even if the medium partner thing did become available, I am not sure I would go for it.

As things stand, my full time freelance coding tutor business is already benefitting from my medium account, commercially. So, yes, I dont want to put my stuff behind paywall, even if I could.

Final Note

As I hit this simple milestone, I look forward to the future. Perhaps, one day, god willing, I will have a thousand followers. Perhaps, I will hit 100K views per month in the medium stats.

If it happens, that would be cool. If not, I am alright. I am done with my life goals anyway.

And, lastly, thank you to my followers. I hope what I write, is worth your time, Amigos.

I work as a full time freelance coding tutor. Hire me at UpWork or Fiverr or Stack Overflow. My personal website is here. Find more of my art at Behance and Unsplash. Also, I have a Podcast about everyday life. And, a 2nd Podcast, where I talk about freelancing.
