“I can’t wait for Newport!” my lover whispers. “We might never leave the bed!”
“True,” I laugh.
“Although we have to eat sometime,” I add.
“We’ll go out for food and people watch.”
“Sounds perfect!” I smile.
That’s something I could never do with my husband. Sit around at a cafe or a restaurant just watching people.
“That’s ridiculous,” he’d say. “Plenty of things to see and do. You didn’t come here to sit on your ass.”
That is the fundamental difference between my husband and my lover. My lover wants us to enjoy the time together. To suck the joy of life from every moment. Nothing is more intoxicating for him.
“I love to hear you laugh,” he says. “Whatever makes you happy.”
I have to wrap my head around that — I can’t believe this man wants me happy. “I’ll be when we are together in Newport!”
