My mind is blank today
a white piece of paper
incidentally stained
by the cup of your coffee
on a typical morning
these brown lines
relentlessly circling
around the same topic
you will regret it — later
when you’ll sit down to write
and for another, whiter and prettier paper
you will cast me aside
and maybe tomorrow
lost in thought and so kind
you will doodle a picture
on the sheet of my mind
and I’ll lay there, surrendered
and I’ll wait for the day
when you finally crumple
and throw me away
