I eat people with words

I eat people with words
I got a new set
all 32 of them
i chew them like cud
ruminating, humming, purring
like a buffalo
on a hot May afternoon
my mother tells me to chew with bravado
i rip into flesh and bone
a dam has broken
silence slowly travels to the brim
seeps, gushes, wreaks havoc
now the cold winds talk
misery’s substitute
is a saccarine pill
I chew, and I spit
the people, they laugh
like its a tickle
only I know
that i have stolen their clocks
and robbed them
of precious time.
