Valentine’s Day Challenge — A LOVE[LY] Submission Call
Love & New Beginnings
I Goat A Gift for You All
Dear Sentients,
I have the Goat feels! You feeling it too?
If not, here’s a something to get you going.
Valentine’s day is on the way … I know this means, the loving and the loved will be scrambling to figure out what to do for each other THIS year.
With all the “new-age” allergies and that, the flowers and chocolate is becoming a hit or miss (right)? How dumb does it sound when you ask for hypoallergenic flowers, and nut free, gluten free, dairy free, soy free, totally free chocolate- (yep its a thing). Smirks
There is always the option of a book or two, a magazine subscription maybe, BUT who buys a reading material and then gives it away? No matter how much you love someone (grins). If you do, you do it reluctantly, (‘fess up now). If the giftee loves you loads- they will tell you you can read it first!
(Love it when a plan comes together!) [right?]
I started out by thinking I was going to be helpful with the Valentine gift thingy- clearly I have another motive.
I want to give our readers/writers/artists gifts to express gratitude for showing up to submission calls, reading, clapping for our treasured contributors and, best of all shooting the breeze with me. It’s been a delightful several months on the big size Medium that fits all, no complaints of great note to file there. So.. how do I gift you?
Although it’s entirely unclear who St. Valentine was and how it came to be that the 14th of February CELEBRATES love and devotion- it doesn’t martyr — Hallmark thinks it’s a good idea. <smirks>
My thought is that we should celebrate Love and Devotion every single day, Love that is the essence of our being, mental, physical, emotional and spiritual- Love drives us.
So let’s take the ride unabashedly.
From Friday January 19th through February 14th let’s celebrate Love and Devotion in the tradition of St. Valentine Day.

Submission Guidelines:
There’s a twist* to this call! Submissions will be processed through the Scene & Heard Submittable platform and published under The Goat @The Scene & Heard profile giving full credit to the contributors on Medium and off Medium.
Here is an example of how your work will look published under the publication’s profile.
Goatting on-
3 submittable* submissions, receiving the most editorial love (as it were)- will go on to be published in the print edition of the Scene & Heard and receive a surprise Valentine’s gift from Goat (not choc or flowers). Yes, yes, I know cash is king… I also know most people reading this letter love reading too.
The submissions not selected for print will still have the opportunity to be further selected for online publication, and all accepted submissions will be published online on February 14th
The 3-top submissions i.e. those receiving the most love from our online readership between February 14th- February 17th 2018 will also receive a gift in kind.
*Don’t want to be Twisted?
If for some reason contributors do not wish to go off platform, go ahead and submit as usual following the guidelines above.
There is a catch (yes! full disclosure) the piece submitted will not be eligible for the VDay gifts nor eligible for selection in the print edition. But virtual goat hugs will be forthcoming. Personally, (I’d try the twist).
;-)
OUR READERS: without you where would we be?
Here’s your challenge:
I know the clap system has now taken root. Clap as you do plus add in some more love by:
1) Responding to a piece published in the Scene & Heard online with a green heart and a smile, tag your response #isceneandheard.
2) The piece you respond to must be a piece that you have not previously read in the Scene & Heard online.
3) The piece you respond to should be in the date range of January 1 2017- February 15th 2018
Each reader responding will receive a surprise Valentine day gift from the Goat at the Scene & Heard.
Enjoy the ride and thank-you for reading this far.
Share the love and pass on the Valentine’s day challenge to your tribe.
Read us, Write us , Challenge us, Cheer us, Delight us, Inspire us, Love and be Loved.
Yours Lovingly,
Goat
