xpert and Kgp alumnus Dr K. Radhakrishnan has been appointed the next chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), effective next month. Dr. Radhakrishnan is an alumnus of Kerala University (Electrical Engineering, 1970), IIM Bangalore (1976) and received his doctorate from IIT Kharagpur in 2000.
He has held several key positions in ISRO.
Some of them are:
- Director of Regional Remote Sensing Service Centres under the umbrella of National Natural Resources Management System (1989–97).
- Director of Budget and Economic Analysis for the entire ISRO (1987–97).
- National Mission Director of Integrated Mission for Sustainable Development and a Deputy Director of NRSA (1997–2000).
Dr. Radhakrishnan played a key role in the Chandrayaan-I moon mission. He was also instrumental in the development of the PSLV launch vehicle.
