Area Schools Press Conference kicks off in Santa Fe

SURROUND SOUND. Campus journalists from all over Leyte’s Area I scramble for a soundbite during the ASPC’s Opening Program.

Students from the different schools of the Leyte Division’s Area I convene for the 2017 Area Schools Press Conference (ASPC) held today in Sta. Fe, Leyte.

Headlining this year’s ASPC is Reyan L. Arinto, Information Officer and Chief of the Technical Services Section of the Commission on Population — Regional Office No. 8, who delivered an inspirational message to the budding campus journalists.

Arinto emphasized the obligation of journalists to promote truth in delivering information, encouraging the participants to become “agents of change” as campus journalists.

The event, organized by the Department of Education — Leyte Division pursuant to the provisions of the Campus Journalism Act of 1991 (RA 7079), promotes the art of journalism among schools through a variety of writing, arts, and collaborative competitions.

Other personalities gracing the event were Sta. Fe Mayor Oscar J. Montez and Sta. Fe District Supervisor Ernesto T. Villegas.
