#NEWS | PSHS–MC hosts Gawad PASADO; notable figures in film hailed

In a night celebrating the most notable contributions to Filipino film, the Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro (PASADO) hailed the winners of the 24th Gawad PASADO: Gabi ng Parangal last December 19.

The event was hosted by the Filipino Unit of Philippine Science High School–Main Campus (PSHS–MC) and Celluloid, the official film appreciation club of PSHS–MC.

Kun Maupay Man It Panahon (Whether the Weather is Fine) took the spotlight after winning awards in nine categories.

Carlos Francisco Manatad, director of the movie, won the PinakaPASADOng Pelikula and the PinakaPASADOng Direktor awards.

The movie’s leading actress, Charo Santos-Concio, who played a mother looking for her relatives after Typhoon Yolanda, secured the PinakaPASADOng Aktres award alongside Maja Salvador from Arisaka.

Kun Maupay Man It Panahon was also awarded PinakaPASADOng Istorya, PinakaPASADOng Sinematograpiya, PinakaPASADOng Editing, PinakaPASADOng Dulang Pampelikula, PinakaPASADOng Tunog, and PinakaPASADOng Disenyong Pamproduksyon.

There were eight other nominees for other awards, namely: Arisaka, A Hard Day, Tenement 66, Love is Color Blind, My Amanda, Dito at Doon, Game Boys: The Movie, and Historya ni Ha.

Gawad PASADO is organized by PASADO, an organization of teachers who aim to promote film as an effective medium of instruction.

The previous iteration of the event in 2021 was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
