In Google’s continued mission to organize the World’s data and make it universally accessible and useful, they’ve created a “News Lab” which, in part, helps journalist understand how Google’s tools — like news, public data explorer, and consumer surveys — can help them in the content gathering and creation process. However, in addition to those tools, they’ve also created tutorials on search, YouTube, Alerts, Fusion Tables, Trends and others, and give what I think are some of the best lessons on understanding those tools — from the basics to advanced use cases. This is obviously geared towards people who are learning to be more efficient and effective storytellers… like, us!

Pymetrics, the self-proclaimed “LinkedIn meets OkCupid” is a career aptitude assessment company who uses neuroscience games to administer both cognitive and personality tests to job seekers, mapping their scores to the scores of top performers. Another company, “Knack”, uses similar science-based games as a talent assessment tool aimed at predicting high job performance. Both represent a more scientific approach to determining quality of candidates and a step away from traditional measures like the resume or situational problem solving based assessments.

Knack is a free app store download and a fun way to see what you have a knack for.

Pymetrics lets you try a couple of the games on their website
