From the history of Athens to the astonishing views of Santorini, Greece has been the epitome of adventure and moments to explore.

Greece, located in southern Europe, is mountainous land almost completely surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. It has more than 1400 islands, which makes it one of the most visited tourist places in the world. In my opinion, the best time to travel to Greece would be between April and May. The weather is perfect for various outdoor adventures such as - sea kayaking in Sporedes island, windsurfing in Rhodes, rock climbing in Kalymnos and many more breathtaking activities! What more, you’ll be safe from the wave of summer crowds.

If you’re traveling on a budget or you want to avoid the crowds - no need to worry. Winter is the best time to visit. Actually as winter lovers, a lot of travelers visit Greece, which is hidden from the world. That time of the year brings along various fun activities like swimming in a natural thermal lake known as Lake Vouliagmeni, a Christmas-inspired theme park in one of the most famous Santa Claus villages in the country- Oneiroupoli and a chance to explore major ski and snowboard centers, such as Arachova and a lot more which can only be enjoyed in the months of winter. The Greek tourism industry and its promoters abroad have, for decades, promoted Greece as an exclusively summer destination. This basically covers the fact that it is a very diverse country in terms of landscape and climate.

Picture comparison of Santorini in different climates.

It is indeed a beautiful place to see. After traveling all day and experiencing so much fun & adventure, you definitely will feel hungry. Well, many food lovers around the world just visit this place to taste one of the most famous delicacies- Dolmadakia. Also known as ‘dolmas’, it’s a side dish made of vine or grape leaves stuffed with herbs and lemon rice.

The most popular liquor in Greece is called "Comzo." Ouzo is a dry type of aperitif that is made of anise flavor. It’s a type of brandy and has a wonderful, strong taste and a very nice flavor that’s a favorite amongst all liquor lovers.

Apart from the rich culture, Greece also holds lots of historic world records such as:

  • The first modern Olympic Games were inaugurated in Athens, Greece- the birthplace of Olympic sport- on 6 April 1896.
  • The greatest of ancient naval battles in recorded history was the Battle of Salamis, which took place in the straits at Salamis. It is Still considered as the largest battle in Sea that ever took place.
  • The outdoor Theatre of Dionysius was the world’s oldest theatre, having been built in Ancient Athens in approximately 500 BC, with an estimated capacity of up to 17,000 people.

This is just a glimpse of what an astonishing and beautiful country Greece is. It is one of the oldest, but still one of the most glorious countries of the world. As we always say - “Old is Gold”. If you’re ever visiting Europe, this is the place where you’ll frame your best memories, as it has everything from ancient history to a rich culture.
