That one important question!
The important question for Developers to ask part of any Scrum Team during the conversations in the Planning is:
“Is it good enough for now and safe enough to try?”
This means you will ensure your Scrum Team to craft and commit to a Product Goal during long range planning and the Sprint Goal during the Sprint Planning event.
The reason being, planning is required to bring just enough alignment and confidence to try out the next experiment(s) in order.
In the absence of a goal, your Scrum Team’s commitments take a contractual route with no space for learning and emergence.
Remember it is only when you talk about confidence associated with a whole lot of possible outcomes in achieving the goal, risks do surface.
And when your planning event doesnt help surface risks, you better revisit the purpose or accept that your heading for a disappointment.
