We all have them, but they gotta go

“I will never make as much money as that super popular writer.”

“I don’t have enough to write about.”

“No one wants to hear about my life.”

“Nothing else has ever worked out, why will this?”

“Successful writers are just lucky.”

“I’m just not good enough.”

These are all thoughts that get in the way of my writing. At least one of these ugly beliefs creeps into my mind every day.

If you’re a writer, you probably encounter these types of beliefs too.

These thoughts represent limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs are the things we hold to be true, when they usually are not, that prevent us from living our best life. These beliefs only exist to constrain us and prevent us from taking the actions that would allow us to take our lives to the next level.

Why are limiting beliefs so deadly for writers?

As writers, our entire vocation is based on ideas. Without ideas, we can’t be writers. The reason that limiting beliefs are so dangerous for writers is that they inhibit your idea-creating muscles.
