Our submission guidelines and what we’re looking for.

The Second Act is a publication about making changes as you move into the second act of your adult life.

The “Second Act” doesn’t happen at a specific age. It happens when you decide to step out of your first phase of adulthood and into a second.

The Second Act is about starting to live life on purpose — not just continuing to live a life you aren’t totally in love with.

What Topics Do We Publish?

Each piece should be about one (or more) of our main themes. Our themes are: careers, entrepreneurship, relationships, personal development, personal growth, writing (as a second career) and life lessons. We love positive stories about people who want to make thoughtful, meaningful change in their life.

We Love Honesty, Vulnerability and Writing from the Heart as much as we love personal development hacks and career advice. If you can tell a story, that’s always welcome.

The Nitty Gritty

  • We’re looking for pieces roughly between 500–2000 words. Please be considerate to the editorial staff and only submit drafts that have been proofread for errors.
  • We prefer unpublished drafts, but will consider previously published work as well.
  • We reserve the right to lightly edit your story for grammatical errors, typos and formatting.
  • Always use a compelling leading image. Using up to 3 images is great.
  • It’s ok to self-promote, but be cool about it.

To request to be added as a contributor just comment on this post “Yes, please!”.

We look forward to publishing your awesome work!
