EU to set new Data Privacy Penalties

Changes in law would make life tougher for companies

One regulator across the whole of Europe is going to make life easier for companies but the challenge will be for them to manage all breaches quickly and efficiently.

The law will bring in strict requirements that national authorities be alerted within 72 hours of when data breaches occur, an issue highlighted by leaks of customer information at British telecom operator TalkTalk over the past year – Reuters
