NSA told to halt the spying

…..Well that is what they tell us

The mass collection of telephone data has been brought to a halt after the U.S. Senate failed to reach a deal on reforms to the programme.

The National Security Agency (NSA) has lost its authority to use several electronic spying tools that President Obama has previously stated as critical to combating terrorism, when Rand Paul, a Republican senator, blocked efforts to prevent the measures from expiring at midnight on Sunday 31st May 2015

“Tonight we stopped the illegal NSA Bulk data collection,” Mr Paul said after the Senate adjourned on Sunday night. “This is a victory no matter how you look at it. It might be shortlived, but I hope that it provides a road for a robust debate, which will strengthen our intelligence community, while also respecting our Constitution.

What this article and many others do not highlight, is the time and effort it will take the governement to ensure the people on the ground adhere to the ruling.
