The Daily D6 — Daily Playable Dungeons & Dragons 5e Characters

Need a ready-to-play for your next campaign? We might have just the adventurer for you.

Created using free AI image generation.

Hello and welcome to The Daily D6, a segment of The Seekers Guild’s Public Parcel (official blog) dedicated to character creation.

Turns out, creating a universe means a lot of character creation.

Like, a LOT.

So, I decided to make my life a little easier by utilizing some random generation methods, particularly when creating characters who are secondary or lower.

I chose to share these random rolls because hey, I’m sure there are plenty of people who would just like a quick, semi-put-together character they could start playing almost immediately.

I recently came across a strategy from Mattew Coville in which you roll your abilities scores in order, and use whatever the fates decide as your character’s baseline.

As someone who agonizes over every decision in the decision-making process for a character and someone who loves the challenge a random element provides to an otherwise strategical process, this was extremely appealing to me.

If that sounds like you too, I’d check out his video.

I’ve decided to use this strategy when it comes to the race selection as well, creating a randomized pool of the races given to you in the Player’s Handbook of Dungeons & Dragons 5e, and rolling a d20.

I’ll likely be creating characters using races outside of this as well, but for the sake of wanting to share these as I go, I’ll keep the character posted within the scope of the easily accessible (lots of free online content for them) races and subraces.

The classes, however, I’ll be choosing to fit the abilities scores, as a character unsuited for their scores ultimately results in an unfun game for the person playing them.

If the class calls for cantrips/spells, I’ll make some suggestions, but you are always free to change them as you see fit, as well as every other part of the character.

The backgrounds, I think I’ll leave decidedly undecided in the posts, just to avoid steering you too far down any one direction. I’ll give maybe two or three suggestions that come to mind, but I’m honestly more interested in seeing what you guys come up with.

I will, however, share any backgrounds I create if I end up choosing one of the randomly rolled characters to fashion one for my universe.

I can’t imagine I’ll use all of them, but check the footnotes to see if a character ends up getting used in Terra Ciona.

Happy Adventuring!
