In February 2015 with a group of friends I started the Sensible Soapbox. My goal was to create a website with content that provoked conversation of a political/social nature. Further, I wanted to increase insight and understanding in my community. Among the contributors were conservatives and liberals, theists, and atheists, women and men. For our small group we had a surprising amount of diversity both in opinion and background. While this may have kept us from gaining any kind of following or traction due the swings in opinion, it was, for me, amazing. I loved every minute of it. After a few months of working together as a group, life caught up. One by one, each team member had something of a life event and could no longer contribute consistently. Eventually, the website was taken down. I know this will sound dramatic, but that was an incredibly sad day.

The Sensible Soapbox means a great deal to me and I have made a few attempts to reboot it. Now, in 2018 I will make my latest attempt. I will be publishing through Medium until my website is back up. Currently the Sensible Soapbox has one contributor. Me. By myself it seems the goal I set out with may be unattainable. Nevertheless, I feel compelled to write. I think it wise up front to let everyone know, I imagine much of what I write will be seen as controversial. I hope to address hard topics, inspire thought, and provoke conversation. I hope that what I write will be interesting, challenging, and sometimes even unsettling.

If you disagree with things I say, please comment. If you feel so inclined, write a response. Nothing would make me happier than to post opinions other than my own on the Sensible Soapbox.
