Weighlifting: 3 x 5 x 275 lbs squat, 3 x 5 x 275 lbs deadlift. Shoulder presses were… complicated: 1 x 5 x 104 lbs, 1 x 3 x 104 lbs, 1 x 4 x 104 lbs.

I think a combination of not sleeping and eating well, chronic stress from work, inconsistent training, no BCAA or creatine, and good old-fashioned psychological barrier did not help. My arm strength leave much to be desired. Too many confounding factors to be able to attribute it exclusively to any one thing. But, who knows — maybe meat is the ultimate strength pill? Of course, you can almost guess what happened next…

Yet another Twitter fight with the inimitable Saifedean Ammous.

Lunch: was pretty late into the day (5 p.m.). I took a walk to this kosher vegetarian place a few corners away. Had hot and sour tofu soup, and some “Thai-style” seitan thing. (Also chatted with the waitress in Malay, who kindly offered to treat me to a meal in Chinatown.) Had some ice cream afterward at the world’s first Häagen-Dazs shop…and it was too late when I remembered it wasn’t vegan. Oops. I genuinely forgot. Sorry about that.

Nice day.

Dinner: Some vegetarian thing my roommate Avinash Chan made, and red wine.

End of day.
