Friday, December 1st is Bandcamp Friday. That’s basically four days from now to find some new music! From jazz, punk, and rock, here’s four recent releases from Australia we’re listening to.

Aura — Same Sky

The follow up to their flawless self-titled debut, Aura are back with a second album of improvised jazz from four of Australia’s best musicians. This one releases on Bandcamp Friday, but the song Baby Horse can be heard now at the Bandcamp link below.

Listen and buy it on Bandcamp.

Checkpoint — D R I F T

The debut album from Melbourne-based punks Checkpoint finally dropped in October, and we’ve been listening to it nonstop. Also check out non-album tracks gravedigger + on the run which released last year.

Listen and buy it on Bandcamp.

Screensaver — Decent Shapes

Another follow up to an 2021 debut, Melbourne’s Screensaver return with more synth-punk evoking Siouxsie and The Banshees and Joy Division. If you get the chance, check them out live, because they’re even better on stage and the drumming particularly is fantastic!

Listen and buy it on Bandcamp.

The Toads — In The Wilderness

Out now on Anti Fade, Melbourne’s best record label for Australian rock. The Toads have that laid back style the label is known for, and reminds me a bit of Smarts, another band on Anti Fade who share two members between them.

Listen and buy it on Bandcamp.
