Can You Camp in a Tesla???
Surprisingly one of the best camp cars yet.
After weighing the potential downfalls of driving my car in the desert I decided to take the Model Y out for a camping trip just south of Moab here in Utah. I have previously taken my car out in all sorts of winter conditions and it has performed great on the snow but this was the first time bringing it out to the desert. Overall I loved camp mode and will be using it for as many of my trips as I can, the one downfall I will be talking about is the clearance of the model Y.
The first thing I want to talk about is storage space, boy does the Y have it. Combining the Frunk, folding down the back seats, and the storage under the hatch space, I had more than enough room for all my camping equipment, plus some back up tents and gear and all of my climbing gear. That all fit in there easily without packing the car so tight I couldn’t see through my back window. I have spoken of storage space before so I won’t say too much more about it here but it if is a concern for you, then this is where I think the model Y really shines over the model 3.
Time to talk about the downside of going camping with a hatchback. It just doesn’t quite have enough clearance. With the battery being stored on the bottom I am especially careful when it comes to rock roads where you need a high clearance vehicle. For this trip I…
