Paris: Photos Capturing an Instant in Time
More Eiffel Tower than anything else
I miss Paris immensely. The city has surely changed, and I know I can’t go back to the same city at the same age with the same circumstances. The city is locked in my mind to a period of time in my life and the world. Paris is a city both in time and location for me. Whatever the case, I still feel a deep love every time I see pictures of the city.
I can still smell the smoke, the odors, the rain, and the warm sunshine, whenever it was actually sunny. The pee; I can still smell the fermenting stench of urine. It’s like the city had its own body odor… and I miss it some times.
I took these pictures the last time I went. I saw the Eiffel Tower almost everyday, multiple times a day.
Everyday, I saw the Eiffel Tower peaking through trees, over buildings, and around them.
I saw the Tower walking to school, and it was the beacon to locate ourselves to know where we were in the city.
Now, it certainly seems like a good metaphor as if to say the Tower is a beacon in time and space for us (my classmates and I) to know where we are in our lives as we look back ever so fondly.
It’s not to say the times I lived in Paris were always amazing, but rather, I fell in love with a passion that doesn’t seem to die.
If I could go back in time and live those years again, I would. I would live them with a better appreciation for how temporary time is, and when I think of Paris, I remember to live my life now with the same enthusiasm as I would like to live in Paris again.
You never know when you’ll fall in love and later regret taking it for granted.
