Sunrise Movement Kicks Off The Decade of the Green New Deal — Here’s How You Can Get Involved

The “Good Jobs For All” Campaign launched this week with thousands of young people tuning in live to hear from national organizers and guests including U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley and labor leader Sara Nelson.

In addition to engaging in grassroots action leading up to the 2020 election, activists with the Sunrise Movement joined many organizations last year in taking to the streets in support of the Movement for Black Lives.

Young people from all over the country tuned in to a “Good Jobs for All” livestream hosted by Varshini Prakash, Executive Director of the Sunrise Movement, in which the movement’s 2021 campaign goals were laid out. Central to this phase of the 10-year “Decade of the Green New Deal” plan is the push for a federal jobs guarantee for all Americans who are looking for work. This idea is neither new nor particularly radical; in fact, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt introduced his proposed “Economic Bill of Rights” in his 1944 State of the Union address, in which he called for a good paying job for all Americans who are looking for work.
