April 28 proclaimed as “Heads Up, Eyes Forward!” Day
Day meant to highlight safe driving
“Heads Up, Eyes Forward!” is a distracted-driving awareness campaign spearheaded by a team of enthusiastic Lenape Regional High School District students. Their mission is to spread the message of safe driving and bring attention to the dangers of being distracted while behind the wheel.
The team has proclaimed Friday, April 28, 2017 as “Heads Up, Eyes Forward!” Day. On this day, staff throughout the LRHSD will show their support by wearing specially designed “Heads Up, Eyes Forward” pins as a reminder to their students to drive safely.
Over the past month team members attended town council meetings in Evesham, Medford, Mount Laurel and Tabernacle and were presented with official proclamations marking April 28, 2017 as Heads Up, Eyes Forward! Day.
In cooperation with local police departments The “Heads Up, Eyes Forward — Drive Safely” message will be displayed locally outside the Lenape District’s four high schools and their sending elementary and middle schools.
Heads Up, Eyes Forward! students first had their message displayed in 2013 on state overhead dynamic message signs through a partnership with the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Each year since then, the list of participating states has grown to include Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
