Burlington County Sheriff offers free child safety seat inspections throughout November
Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield reminds residents as they prepare for the holiday season and the traveling that comes with it, free child safety seat inspections will be set-up every Wednesday throughout November.
Inspections will be held at two separate times, one at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and one at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Burlington County Administration Building at 49 Rancocas Road in Mount Holly.
“In addition to the checkpoints we hold at the County Administration Building every Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Department will also be holding the last on the road checkpoint of the year,” said Sheriff Stanfield. “Our goal is to continue to provide busy parents with essential services when and where it is most convenient for them.”
The last checkpoint will be held at the Burlington Township Police Department on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Our Child Passenger Safety Seat Program conducts hands-on training for parents and caregivers to ensure that their children’s safety seats are properly installed,” Sheriff Stanfield continued. “The Sheriff’s Department Child Safety Seat Team consists of State Certified Technicians who also check all child seats for safety concerns and recalls.”
The Burlington County Child Passenger Safety Program has inspected over 14,000 child safety seats since its start sixteen years ago.
“According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, research on the effectiveness of child safety seats shows their use can reduce fatalities for children under one-year-old by 71 percent and for toddlers ages one through four by 54 percent,” Sheriff Stanfield added. “My department is committed to educating parents and caregivers on the steps they need to take to keep their children safe while traveling on our roadways.”
