Burlington County Freeholders are seeking volunteers to help the Clean Communities Office with a county park clean-up at Willingboro Lakes in Willingboro on Saturday, March 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.

“Our County residents have stepped up to help us keep our parks clean,” Freeholder Director Joe Donnelly said. “All of their efforts are greatly appreciated. It is great to see our residents working together to protect the environment.”

Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, long sleeves, long socks and sturdy close-toed shoes that can get muddy. Volunteers are asked to bring along drinking water, large garden shears, loppers, and/or hand clippers, if they have them. A limited supply will be available at the event.

Bags and gloves will be provided. Participants younger than age 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and letters documenting volunteer community service will be available to students. (This is a rain or shine event — Severe weather will cancel the event.)

Another park clean-up is being held at Pennington Park & Newton’s Landing Trail in Delanco from 9 am to noon on Saturday, March 16, 2013.

Registration is requested for planning purposes, but volunteers may also just show up at the event. A link to event details and sign up can be found on the Parks page at http://www.co.burlington.nj.us/pages/pages.aspx?cid=915. Individuals can also contact the Clean Communities office at cleancomm@co.burlington.nj.us, or (609) 499–1001, ext. 266. Volunteers will meet at the parking area along Rt. 130 in Willingboro.
