Seneca High School’s Football team raised $1000 dollars for The Darren Daulton Foundation — a foundation that financially supports those who suffer from brain cancer and bran tumors. The idea to raise money for brain cancer came last year when two members of families affiliated with the football team were both affected by brain cancer.

Seneca’s team wore an alternate football jersey during their game against Shawnee High School to also raise awareness. The jerseys have grey ribbons on them and the words “fight, love, support, help and honor.” The coaching staff surprised the players with the jerseys the night before the game. Head coach Bill Fisher invited the two families affected by brain cancer to help hand out the jerseys and speak to the team. It was a very emotional and inspirational night.

Senior captain Tom Scarpello said, “It felt great to be able to support such a great cause especially one that affected people in our community. It really hits home when I walk in the locker room and see that some of my teammates, who I consider brothers, are directly affected by brain cancer and knowing that we did what we could to help them and their families out.”
