At its annual National Awards ceremony, Cadet Thomas S. Jeansson (’18) was named the 2016–2017 Outstanding Cadet of the Year for Seneca High School’s Air Force JROTC Unit NJ-20101. Thomas was also the recipient of the Superior Performance Ribbon.

The Outstanding Cadet award is given annually for outstanding achievement or meritorious service rendered specifically on behalf of AFJROTC, via the Air Education and Training Commander Colonel Bobby C. Woods. This award is presented for a single or sustained performance of a superior nature.

Cadet Jeansson said, “I’m honored to have been chosen for this award, but it’s more about the continued growth of the program. I’m just humbled to have been selected from a lot of great cadets.”

Additionally, Seneca High School’s AFJROTC program was recognized with The Outstanding Organization Award given to units that have performed in a superior nature. Seneca was one of three units in NJ to earn this distinction out of the 897 units worldwide.
