A love story
Patrick loved coffee.
Nikki loved tea.
Patrick loved meat.
Nikki loved vegetables.
Patrick loved crime thrillers.
Nikki loved self-help books.
Patrick loved country music.
Nikki loved jazz.
Patrick loved going to the gym.
Nikki loved staying away from the gym.
Patrick wanted kids.
Nikki wanted cats.
Patrick wanted to stay out of the crowd.
Nikki wanted to be in the center of the crowd.
Patrick made promises.
Nikki made threats.
Patrick said yes and meant maybe.
Nikki said yes and meant no.
Patrick believed in science.
Nikki believed in God.
Patrick was afraid he would die young.
Nikki was afraid she would die old.
One cold, winter day, Patrick and Nikki sat together on a bench.
They looked at each other and agreed for the first time in their lives.
They wanted to die together.
And so, they did.
And all that is left of Patrick and Nikki is a black and white photo of them sitting together on the bench.
