Darkly tanned men dressed in jaguar fur, with a jaguar head showing only their faces, surrounded the ten shipwrecked day-trippers, each carrying a shield and a weapon, spears, dart guns, and longbows and arrows.

The group stared in stunned silence except for Stacey, who continued screaming in terror.
