The walk down the aisle!
Susie noticed that the church was bustling with reporters as she turned her car inside. She smiled nervously. Bobby had always wanted this to be a small and intimate affair, but this was probably as small as it gets.
Bobby was the darling of Hollywood. They had invited only the closest of their friends, but considering that included at least half a dozen oscar winners and another dozen american heartthrobs, she was not surprised.
She was ushered into the Bride’s room. Carla, her best friend of 10 years was giving someone instructions about the flowers. She turned around and looked at Susie, and let out a soft gasp. “You look gorgeous woman.” she exclaimed before getting caught up again with some query by someone.
Susie looked at herself in the mirror. She did look pretty. She wished her father was here with her. He’d know how to calm her down. In the dozen years since she had lost him, she had never missed him so much. Maybe she could quietly sneak out and get a quick chat with Bobby.
Her small purse slipped from her hands and a neatly folded bit of paper fell down. She had written down what to say, but she wasn’t sure if she would remember anything when the time came. She tried running the words in her head “You are my Best friend. You make me laugh. You make me cry… And you give a new meaning to my life..”
“Suze? Sorry to disturb babe! But it’s time!” Carla nudged. She held her hands, and gave a calming smile. “You’re gonna be fine. Deep breaths ok?”
Suzie smiled and let Carla lead her to the aisle. She could see Bobby now. In his best suit, he looked as dashing as ever. She walked down the aisle, as the cameras flashed behind her. She walked down the aisle slowly. Around her, people were standing up, some smiling, some wiping tears and waving at her. She did not notice. Her eyes were set on Bobby. It felt like forever before she was by his side.
She knelt down and kissed his forehead. The open casket had the perfect flowers. White lilies. His favourite. “You look gorgeous darling.” She whispered in his ear.
The mic was waiting for her. She walked up slowly and started making her speech. “Well, I had prepared a long moving speech, but all I can think of is just this. I love you Bobby. You are my Best friend. You make me laugh. You make me cry… And you give a new meaning to my life… I guess you will continue to. It doesn’t feel like the end. It doesn’t feel like you have gone. You will live on. In some form or the other. I will keep seeing you every time I switch on the TV; Everytime I read those secret letters you left for me. I love you Bobby. I always will”
