Things to love, learn from, and appreciate about Prince…

  1. Prince celebrated the colors of life. (Reflected in the mural painted in his honor, shown here) Think “Purple Rain,” (his signature color), his colorful costumes — often in androgynous style, his guitars, his music, his creativity and individuality.
  2. His princely, yet approachable, persona and smile.
  3. How he often worked closely with and promoted women in music, throughout his expansive career.
  4. I personally love that he maintained a deep connection with his hometown of Minneapolis, and state of Minnesota, all his life.
  5. His talent! In songwriting, performing, producing, and film making. He also composed for others, including: “Manic Monday” for the Bangles, “I Feel For You” for Chaka Khan, and “Nothing Compares 2 U” for Sinéad O’Connor. (Mental Floss Magazine)
  6. He regularly showed up for and participated in the community of humankind.
  7. Prince lived life on his own terms, with courage and originality.
